Brian Connell is the Vice President of Federal Affairs for Blood Cancer United (formerly, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society). Over his 18-year career in Washington, Brian has secured legislative and regulatory changes that have expanded patient access to health care and made that care safer, more effective, and more sustainable. At Blood Cancer United, Brian leads an extraordinary team that advocates for meaningful reforms in federal policies, across Congress, the executive branch, and the courts. Brian started his career in D.C. serving as a health care policy advisor in Congress, leading health issues for a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives during the debate and passage of the Affordable Care Act. Immediately prior to joining Blood Cancer United, Brian led U.S. lobbying and FDA policy efforts for an industry trade association for the manufacturers of medical imaging and radiation therapy technologies. In that role, Brian served as an industry negotiator for the $595 million MDUFA III user fee agreement. Brian lives in Northeast D.C. with his wife and two daughters.
