Brian DuVal

Brian DuVal is the Director of Patient Advocacy at the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO). BIO is the premier biotechnology advocacy organization representing biotech companies, industry leaders, and state biotech associations in the United States and more than 35 countries around the globe. BIO members range from biotech start-ups to some of the world’s largest biopharmaceutical companies – all united by the same goal: to develop medical and scientific breakthroughs that prevent and fight disease, restore health, and improve patients’ lives. In his role, Brian supports BIO’s patient advocacy and alliance development efforts by engaging with key patient stakeholders, driving patient support on federal issues of pricing, access, and reimbursement, and working collaboratively with the BIO patient advocacy team to ensure BIO’s policies reflect patient perspectives. Brian joined BIO in May 2026 after working at various patient advocacy groups, including Hemophilia Federation of America and AiArthritis, where he led state and federal patient advocacy efforts. He has also supported the biotechnology industry through roles at BioMarin Pharmaceutical Inc. and Aviva Strategies, a boutique health advocacy firm in Washington, D.C. Brian is a dedicated patient advocate whose connections to rare and chronic conditions have fueled his passion for incorporating patient perspectives in policymaking. Brian serves on the board of the Hemophilia Association of the Capital Area and holds a Master of Public Health from Vanderbilt University and a bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Nebraska.
