BIO has made limited funds available to support qualifying Patient Advocacy Organizations for which staff travel to Washington, DC would present a financial hardship.  Applications must be submitted to BIO for consideration no later than 5:00 PM Eastern Time on Friday, September 25, 2026. Your application will be reviewed by the BIO team and notifications will be sent to applicants no later than Tuesday, September 29, 2026 so you may properly plan your attendance.

Please be aware that submitting this application does not guarantee that your organization will receive travel support, as we have limited funds.  Please note that only one hotel room reservation, and up to $500 in travel assistance will be approved per organization, not per attendee.  Travel assistance will be provided to the 501(c)3 / 501(c)4 nonprofit organization you represent, and not to you personally.

Travel support includes:
1. Hotel Accommodations:  BIO will handle all hotel reservations directly. This includes up to two nights of hotel room and tax at the Mayflower Hotel. BIO will not reimburse any hotel reservations made independently. A credit card will be required at check-in to cover any incidental charges. Hotel rooms are limited to a maximum of double occupancy - additional occupancy may result in charges not covered by BIO.

2. Transportation:  BIO will cover airfare, train fare, or mileage and parking expenses up to $500. Only Coach airfare or Coach Amtrak fare will be covered - no upgrades (including those under the $500 limit) will be reimbursed. Ground transportation (such as taxi or UberX) to and from the airport or Union Station is reimbursable and will be included within the overall $500 travel maximum.

For attendees who choose to drive to Washington rather than fly or take Amtrak, valet or self-parking will be reimbursed for up to two nights, and mileage will be reimbursed at BIO’s prevailing rate of $0.76 per mile.

Approval for travel support is at the discretion of BIO. Travel Support is first-come, first-served as travel support funds are limited. To be considered, the attendee must be registered as a patient advocate before completing this form.
